A Call to Surrender 

Matthew 2:1–12

Introduction

 

A Savior King calls us to surrender every area of our lives.

1. It was a miracle to behold. (Matthew 1:18–21)

 

      precisely promised (Matthew 1:18–20)

 

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

 

      powerfully provided (Matthew 1:19–20)

 

2. It was a message to believe.

 

      a redeemer to rescue (vv. 5–6)

      a response to reckon with

 

1. indifference

 

2. irate

 

Surrendering control is far different from losing control. Surrendering control leads to CONFIDENCE, and losing control leads to FEAR.

 

3. It was a moment to bow. (v. 11)

 

Philippians 2:10 . . . so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. [ONE DAY, every knee will bow.]

 

Psalm 95:6–7 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
