City on a Hill: Integrity

Matthew 5:33-37

Introduction:

A life of integrity is built when our words and actions are true.

1. Resist looking for a loophole. (v. 33)
2. Reflect the highest absolute truth. (vv. 34–36)

Proverbs 6:16-17 There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. . . .

Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.

3. Realize the importance of being truthful. (v. 37)

            Deception destroys your character.

Luke 16:10 One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

            Deception destroys relationships.

            Deception destroys your witness.
