How God Grows our Faith
Exodus 17:1-7
South Gate - November 8, 2020

Introduction

Don’t grumble about the desert because it’s where God grows your faith

1.  Faith Grows out of DIFFICULTY — v. 1

     every place has a purpose –v.7
     every problem has potential

2.  Faith Grows out of DEPENDENCE — v. 4
    dependence on the LORD
Quote — “We encounter God all over again every time we’re desperate
enough to realize that we’re not in control.” — Bob Goff
     dependence in prayer
Moses cried out to God – this wasn’t some. Hey God, I need some water –
oh, by the way I may get stoned today. He was begging God to work in this
situation and deliver Him from the crisis. He was desperate for God to work

     instead of complaining cry out to God
3.  Faith Grows in the DIVINE Presence of God — v. 6

Quote – “Suffering can refine us rather than destroy us because God
himself walks with us in the fire.” – Tim Keller

     faith isn’t about resources is about relationship

through suffering, and there is no way to get through suffering unless you
