Living on Purpose: Striving Together
Philippians 1:27
Pastor Jayson Workman
South Gate — January 9, 2022
Introduction:
I believe that God wants us to strive for unity and faithfulness.
- Strive for Unity in Maturity
- Strive for Unity in Message
The gospel goes way beyond our salvation and empowers our sanctification.
Quote: “The gospel is not just supposed to be our ticket into heaven; it is to be an entirely new basis for how we relate to God, ourselves, and others. It is to be the source from which everything else flows.” —J.D. Greear
Be rigid in the gospel and flexible on everything else.
Be real in an authentic community of believers.
Quote: “The Christ follower outside of community is living in disobedience. Community is assumed. If I am out of community, I am out of God’s will.”
Quote: “It is easy to watch the show, but it is biblical to gather in communities and live on mission.”
Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
- Strive for Unity in Mission
Quote: “It is the whole duty of the whole church to preach the whole gospel to the whole world.” —C.H. Spurgeon
Quote: “The church is one of the few organizations in the world that does not exist for the benefit of its members.” —Ed Stetzer

Living with Purpose
Romans 8:28–31
Pastor Jayson Workman
January 2, 2022
Introduction
I believe that God has a purpose for my life.
- God is ALWAYS at work in your life. (v. 28)
Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
- God is MOVING you to His eternal high purpose. (v. 29)
God’s purpose is more INTERNAL than it is EXTERNAL. The more you focus on WHO you are, the more WHAT you do comes into picture.
If you want to know what God has for your life, FOCUS on WHO you are.
- God created you to live with His purpose on your MIND. (v. 31)
Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
